After drinking my weight in margaritas, beer, and wine this weekend, I think it’s time to start treating my body better. I don’t even want to know what the scale will be saying tomorrow!
Our trip to Texas was awesome. We had a great time with family and enjoyed celebrating Beer Geek’s grandmother’s birthday. In addition to the aforementioned alcohol, much barbecue and TexMex food was eaten. The boys had an awesome time with their cousins. They got to drive tractors, climb trees, and spend an afternoon throwing oranges into a pool (don’t ask). And, of course, they had some great bonding time over the Nintendo DS and one of the Star Wars movies.
Our trip home today was a bit surreal. Because we spent most of the day en route from TX to DC, I felt like I missed a big party. We did see bits and pieces of the Inauguration and watched the news coverage this evening, but it was weird not seeing it live. When we got to the airport this evening, it was full of people heading home. Many of the roads around the area were still closed when we got home, but taxis were allowed on some and we were able to get home without any delays. It was absolutely bizarre to be on a major highway that is normally packed with cars and be one of only a few vehicles. We saw people walking home from the parade and the Pentagon full of buses, heading to pick people up. It felt a bit strange to be on the periphery of such an exciting day. Close to, but not actually a part of it. Still, I’m glad the day went smoothly (both on a national level and on our personal level) and am quite happy to have witnessed this day.
I did have two fabulous runs while in Texas and I managed to keep up at least some minimal strengthening exercises. I ran 4 cross country miles one day and 3 fast miles another day. But, I’m going to leave you all hanging and tell you more tomorrow, ’cause talking about them is “worthless without pictures” as some of my online friends say. ;o)
glad you made it home safely and great job getting in some runs! sounds like a great time for the boys too! good luck with the detox! LOL
Thought about you while I was watching the inauguration, wondered if you were making home during the chaos. Glad you got home safely! ๐
good job with getting some runs in. i watched bits of the inauguration on tv and couldn’t believe the sea of people that were there. traffic must have been crazy
Because of the title and your blog name, I now have Amy Winehouse’s Rehab song in my head.Yeah, thanks.I want to know about the oranges in the pool. ๐
I don’t even want to know what the scale will be saying tomorrow! If your scale’s anything like mine, I imagine it’ll say:”OWWWW! OUCH! Get the f*#k off me, you beer-swilling, margarita-drinking, wine-guzzling, Tex-Mex eating sunuva …”Of course, my scale used to belong to Don Rickles, so subtly is not quite its forte. Your scale’s reaction might vary somewhat. If it calls you a “hockey puck” then … HEY!! GIMME MY SCALE BACK!Welcome home. At least you got a few runs in. If your scale berates you, ask it when was the last time it went for a run. That’ll shut it right up.My last blog post’s title was “They tried to make me go to Rehab …” and Xenia left a comment on it so if she says YOUR post put that song in her head …I’m fine with that. It’s all your fault. Try to be more considerate next time.
Sounds like a great trip ๐ Welcome back home!! Now get to that detox LOL
What a fun weekend – glad you made it home safely. Great job getting some runs in!
Glad you enjoyed your TX vacation! Welcome home.
That’s what running is for! Sweat out the toxins. Welcome home.
Sounds like a fun weekend! And hey, I’m sure plenty of beer and barbecue is what got your grandmother-in-law to 100, right? Welcome home!
Sounds like a great time. Glad you made it home safely!
