Ok, what I really want is soup weather. (I love soup so much I even eat it at restaurants when it’s hot out, but I don’t make it unless it’s cool outside.)
So far, Labor Day weekend has been pretty great. We’ve been really busy and had some fun as a family and the boys also got to play with friends. Now we need to buckle down and get ready for the first day of school. Gulp!
Saturday morning was spent doing chores and moving the contents of Jones’ room down to the playroom. All that’s left at this point is the lego table, dresser, desk, and his bottom bunk. By Wednesday morning, it needs to be down to just the dresser, desk and a mattress so that we can get his floor repaired and refinished.
Saturday afternoon we got rewarded for our hard work with an afternoon on the Potomac River. Friends of ours own a boat and they invited us along on what turned out to be a very fun day: boating, swimming, and being pulled behind the boat on a raft. What’s not to love?
Yes, even I went in the water.
It was an absolutely wonderful day!
Sunday was more of the moving of things. Next up is moving all my china to my basement. Thankfully both boys got invited to friends’ houses, so no one was in my way during my 5000 trips up and down the stairs. I’m so looking forward to the repairs being done.
I did manage to get a run in on Sunday and it pretty much was the definition of suck. My legs were tired from all the trips up and down the stairs + it was hot and muggy. I ran a pace that should have been easy, but I felt like I was sprinting. 3 miles and I was pretty much done. I keep telling myself my cardio fitness will come back, but it’s taking it’s sweet time. Ugh.
I signed up for the first of my 5 halves this fall, 45 minutes before the price went up LOL. Guess I should start putting in some miles.
So, Virginia, I’m ready for it to feel like fall. How ’bout you help me out???
(And if this showed up in your reader super late or didn’t show up on your blog sidebar for days, you may need to switch to my new feed: feeds.feedburner.com/mcmmamaruns
My old feed has decided it only wants to update occasionally. Grrr….)

I’m getting all your posts now that I’ve changed your address. Yay!
And I got to make soup last week – probably for the last time this year. I used my slow cooker for a change and it was amazingly easy. Why haven’t I done it this way before??
I think I get all of your posts (I use BlogLovin’).
Looks like fun times tubing on the river!!
And as soon as you said you ran I wondered about it after 5000 trips up & down the stairs – the suck was with good reason!!!
Great great pictures! You all look like you’re having so much fun. I am ready for fall. The first week of school was so hot in my upstairs, southern classroom with no air conditioning and the fire marshall won’t let us prop open the doors for a breeze. Fun times.
In Singapore, it is ALWAYS soup weather (even when it’s not). The climate is tropical, but folks here eat soup every day…sometimes even for breakfast. When I first arrived, I couldn’t understand how they could sit over steaming bowls of broth in the 90 degree heat…
Your cardio fitness will return with the cool weather. Not to worry. 🙂
I LOVE soup!!! And looking forward to the fall weather and breaking out the crock pot!
I had chicken soup today…it hit the spot just right!
Glad you had a fun weekend, yay for signing up for one of your fall races- always gives me motivation once I am signed up.
I have Bloglovin and think I have been seeing all your posts?
I am so ready for soup weather. In the fall/winter I have soup almost every day for lunch at my office… comfort kind of thing!
GASPACHO!!!!!
which I caint spell—but I love.
