I have no interest in qualifying for Boston.
I don’t care if I never win a race or even my age group.
I won’t be devastated if I never PR again.
But I want to run fast. And I don’t mean “fast for me”. I want to run 6 minute mile fast.
Why?
So I can fit more miles into my day.
I got the news yesterday that my refrigerator can not be repaired. Did you know that rodents like to chew the drain tubes to get to the water? Now you do. Ours was kind enough to chew it in such a way that we can’t put in a new tube. Thanks, Mr. Rodent.
So, this morning, I had the pleasure of refrigerator shopping. I dropped the boys off at camp and hit up Home Depot, Sears, Best Buy and HHGregg. While I was out, I also hit up Trader Joe’s for some groceries (since I can only fit a few days worth in our beer fridge) and a sporting goods place to get a tent for Cub Scout camping (which I’m sure will be a post on its own…).
I arrived home with 59 minutes to grab my handheld, put on sunblock, and run. See, if I were fast, I could have knocked out 8-10 miles. Instead, I had to settle for 5 miles in 50:20 and a quick stop at the house for the bathroom and the car keys. I then proceeded to pick up Shoo while still literally dripping sweat on the ground.
That’s right.
MCM Mama – Bringing classy to a whole new level.
I think I need a new sticker.
I want to run fast for that same reason. Also, I arrive sweaty to pretty much everything.
I hear ya! The one downside to being a middle-of-the-pack runner is that the miles just simply take longer than it does for those Speedy McSpeedsters!Good luck with fridge shopping! It's not fun to have that on the "to do" list!
Ditto, Ditto, Ditto. People get so used to seeing me in workout clothes, that simple jeans and a t-shirt elicit the "wow, what are you all dressed up for?" comments.
Oh yes please! And arriving sweaty is my mode of operation too…so much so that when I show up showered and dressed everyone is shocked that I actually look normal! LOL
I've always thought, "If I were faster, i would already be finished with this workout (Race, whatever)"…The Crackhead tells me, if you want to run faster, you've got to run faster. What ever that means!
Haha! Me hauling ass around the neighborhood is a common sight, for that exact reason…short on time!
hahaha, I think it should be MCM Mama – Sweaty is Hot and Hot is Yummy!
Funny – maybe not to you but it made me laugh. Too bad about those dumb rodents. Does homeowners cover that?
I know what you mean if I was a little fast. I could run more miles. But I know I will never be fast, so I will continue to be a slow and steady lady. I had to get a new washer this week too. Those darn appliances.
Hahah– I love this blog! Sorry about the fridge. Glad you still got your run in!
I arrive sweaty to most places, even when I have plenty of time. π
i agree if i were faster I would be done quicker or go farther and both would be nice π
Well thank goodness for the beer fridge.
I would love to be able to run faster so I can run and lift at the gym in the same day! If I want to run anything over 4 miles AND get decent weight work done (which I have been slacking on!) I need to either not take a shower before I head home with the girls or only do one! I'm like you, I never have any interest in running Boston or a Marathon for that matter! I will take my 1/2's and 10k's and eventually a 5k that isn't too expensive per mile!
So funny! yes, we all could use a little sub-5 pace in us!
Me too! (To wanting to run fast, not to having rodents destroy my fridge – Poor you!)
I would love to run fast:) I know the rodent story, we had a rodent do that to our dishwasher and it couldn't be fixed and finally I go to everything sweaty. In fact the minute I put on my "dress up" clothes the kids want to know what is going on:)
I often think of all the crap I could get done if I wasn't so dern slow…but really…do fast people get that much more done? I wonder..Happy shopping!
I so agree – I would love to run fast! It always amazes me that people can run a marathon in the time it takes me to run a 1/2 marathon. It just doesn't seem fair – they are on their feet soooooo much less time. π
I want to run fast just so I can say I did! lolGood luck with finding more time in the day to get more miles in!
What's wrong with a little sweat? I arrived home after a run last Sunday to unexpected visitors. I was really sweaty and my dogs thought I tasted extra nice with all that seasoning. Having your sweaty self licked by your dogs – now that's classy!
Imagine what I can do in a day with more time if I could get through my training quicker.
That was super nice of your rat pets!! Yay for getting to buy a new fridge. Hopefully you were semi-due for one?Put me on the waiting list for the next sticker. It'll be a pleasant surprise when I get it in 2023! π
I would buy that bumper sticker, an I want to run that fast for the same exact reason! One dAy!
Ditto! A 20-miler in 2 hours… Yes, Please!! :p
I feel the exact same way. I just want to run fast so I can go farther in less time. That's it. That's all I want!!
