I’ve been channeling my inner Emily and Katie lately and, umm, not showering a lot. I’ve found that if I shower before my run, I have a really hard time getting motivated to run. Usually this is not a problem as I get up, get the kids ready, drop them off at school (yeah, I am that mom), and then run.
On Mondays, Shoo doesn’t have school, but between playdates and Beer Geek working at home, I can usually knock out a short run. This week I wanted to do 6 miles and just couldn’t squeeze it in. So, I hit the road when Beer Geek came up from his office. Had a lovely 6 mile run (more on that tomorrow) and then immediately started dinner. By the time I had an opportunity to shower, I was no longer sweaty and really just felt like going to bed. So, I did.
Today, I got up, took the kids to school and then ran a not nearly as lovely 4 miles. I did take a shower after that run and I’m pretty sure most of the moms at pickup were thankful. ;o)
Moms in the pick up line are just jealous they did not get a run in during the time their kids were in school.
Uh, yeah, guilty of the same! People can just get over it!
showers are soover-rated.that's why we all have pools in AZ. ๐
Me too, but I'm just lazy… :p There's a lot to be said for perfume and what my husband refers to as a "shower in a stick" (that's from his Scout leader days).
I did the exact same thing the other day – I work out in the AM and if I don't get in a shower by the end of the day, I say screw it and wait until after the next morning's workout. At this point I need a haircut, so I'm always putting my hair up after a shower, so I'm sure no one can even tell. I admit that sometimes I'll throw on jeans, so I'm still stinky, but not in workout gear. ๐ My water bill thanks me.
oh my gosh, this is so me! the other night when i was putting my daughter to bed she actually plugged her nose while i was singing to her because i was so stinky! we both cracked up about it…thankfully i was able to shower before bed!
My normal shower time has become about 2pm – get up, get the kids to school, run (or spin, or gym), do my delivering job and finally get in the shower just before the kids come home from school … some days its more like 4ish, so I'm not in there when they arrive home ;)This morning I had a surprise call from the paper, who also wanted a photo so he came straight around – yay – hat on to cover the greasy just got up hair, and lovely old wrinkly pre-showered no make up face, to go in the local paper for all to see LOL
I'm sitting here right now in two days of funk + tonight's speed workout. lol I will be hitting the shower momentarily.I took a shower Sunday afternoon after I came in from being outside all day. Since I didn't do anything else that evening, I didn't take a shower before work Monday morning. Monday was a rest day, so when I got up this morning, I didn't shower before work again because I was thinking, "I'm just going to run as soon as I get off work… what's the point?"
Ha ha! I'm pretty sure that if any of the moms from preschool saw me showered, they wouldn't recognize me!
YES!!!! i had a really hard time getting in the pool today because i had showered this morning!!!!
showering is overrated! No worries! I skip showers all the time and sometimes i even hang up my wet running clothes and sports bra in my office. I braid my ponytail braid every day so i can exercise multiple times a day without having to wash my hair. ๐
Yeah, once I shower, it's the acceptance that a run isn't going to happen. But, I would never be allowed in bed without showering after a run. I smell and sweat waay to much to not smell rank, I don't think I could take it. But I try not to wash my hair everyday.
What?!? Showering before a run is even a possibility? I've heard of (weirdos) who shower before a race. Umm what? Yeah, water conservation. That's my excuse too. ๐
I have been known to run at lunch, run after work and then run the next morning all without showering. And I almost never shower before bed after an evening run. I figure it's a waste of water since I'll shower again in the morning anyway!
I think we've all been there done that. Heh.
