I’ve decided to make lemonade out of lemons. I’m still not running, but I’ve decided that this is a good week to take a break.
I’ve been riding my bike with the boys. As all of our confidence has increased, we’ve ventured out of our little quiet neighborhood. My mileage is nothing to be impressed by, but I’m getting in about an hour a day with them and that’s about all my, ahem, girly bits can handle right now. How do you people do this for long periods of time? The bike I’m riding is old and rickety, so I’ve promised myself a new one if we keep up the regular riding. Let me just say that the bike stores scare me. ;o)
Last night, we did sparklers and fireworks in our yard because the boys were pretty wiped from a three day weekend and there was no way I was letting Shoo stay up late again.
Since this is one of our few weeks with no organized activities, the boys and I are heading to Wolf Trap for the kids’ performance. I’ve always wanted to go, but this is the first year tickets didn’t sell out way in advance for the day I wanted. I’ll be sure to take pics and write a review for tomorrow.
Speaking of reviews, don’t forget my Gotein review and giveaway. It ends Friday and it’s really low entry right now!
And I’m nearing 400 followers! Welcome to all my new followers! I’m trying to get around to saying hi to everyone. Reading, but not a follower? Follow ’cause when I hit 400, I’ll do a giveaway!
Well, it's pretty awesome that you guys are riding as a family! We are years away from that, I think.
Padded shorts…. that is the only way that I can ride any distances. And GOOD padded shorts, not cheapo ones 😛 Good luck with your riding… I am sure that the boys are enjoying their time with Mom.Make it a great day!
Can't wait until I can ride with the kiddies! You could try a new saddle or go with some padding. If you aren't into traditional bike shorts to get your chamois pad, you can get mountain bike shorts, which look kind of like regular shorts and have a spandex liner, or they even make bike skirts that have the spandex liner with a chamois. Just remember, you don't wear underwear under the chamois and you should always put them on clean! I'm telling you, some people don't know this rule.
yay for riding with boys!! 🙂 padded crotch shorts.seriously, that's just fun to write.
Glad you've been able to enjoy the down time from running. I was glad to spend some more time on my bike last week when I couldn't lace up, and dare I say I am getting hooked!I was scared of bike stores and "real" bikes, but you would not believe the difference. It's worth it – treat yourself if you stick to it. And get some padded shorts. I rarely right more than an hour, but it was worth it.
Nice that you can ride together like that. We walk and sometimes run together and it is quality time always.
How do we ride for long periods of time? We buy an upgraded saddle, that's how…. specifically, one that's designed for WOMEN… just saying'.I'm thinking of you here. I'm trying to figure out how I "came back to running", and T crashed… and now T "came back to running", and your running has crashed… WTF, right? I mean, seriously…
PS _ EMZ COMMENT = Priceless!!!!
LOL…. Old and rickety…. That's me! Get the shorts and butt butter…..
you definitely need padded bike shorts my friend:) good for you for riding with the kiddos. I get so nervous and I even have an 11 and a 10 year old.
Sounds like a great time riding with the boys. I am not a bike person either, it hurts my fanny to much.
I am starting to get into biking and I have loved it! It is a great break from running and a great workout as well! Padded biking shorts are the greatest invention!!
You do have bike shorts right?
