You know, to climb back on…
This past week was rough on my body. I think I had a stomach bug in addition to the hangover. I didn’t feel good from Thursday night until yesterday afternoon, which put a real damper on my enjoyment of the actual Savor event. :o( I hardly drank any beer at all at that and spent most of the evening chugging Pellegrino. In fact, for the first time since we started getting a room downtown the night of the event, we actually left Savor early. I know. I was shocked too, but my stomach just wasn’t up for it.
Yesterday I actually took a nap. I never nap. I didn’t nap when Jones woke up every two hours for 4 years. It’s just not what I do.
I also haven’t run since last Wednesday, yet my feet, calves, and one hamstring are all out of sorts. I’m guessing because of the high heels I wore on Saturday night.
Whine, whine, whine.
Goals for the week:
- Get back in the sugar free game. I actually did pretty good, except at the actual events (not wanting food at all may have played some role in that.)
- Get my run on at least 5 times this week. It’s gonna be hot later in the week, so my runs may not be long, but I need to get back in the habit.
- Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! I’ve been having tons of foot and calf cramps that hit me at weird times and my assistant coach is convinced I’m not drinking enough.
Huge apologies for not reading/commenting on blogs. I miss you guys, but something had to give last week. This week is crazy too with end of school year stuff – we have at least one event every.single.night, but I do hope to get around to say hi.
You can do it! jump back on that wagon!
yes! you can do it! i totally hear you about the hydration. it boggles my mind how i can always have a full water bottle/glass of water at hand yet forget to drink it all day. i'm trying to make a more conscious effort to drink 8-10 glasses a day and am actually writing it down to stay on top of myself. it is just so important, especially with all the heat and humidity!
you need to get better first, THEN hop back into the wagon. ๐
Starting Friday I started not feeling well… total punk… weird. Napped for 5 hours total on Sat… weird. Feel better friend. Listen to your body… if you feel like me, take it easy getting on the wagon.
The hydration/beer thing is a vicious circle. I experience it too. I go for a run in the heat, I'm maybe not hydrated enough (I never feel hydrated enough but I drink water all day!) I have one or two beers, the next day I feel like hell and I'm even more dehydrated, and it starts all over. I love a good beer, too. Saturday night I had one lager, then a yummy high-gravity local brew. I didn't even drink all of that second one, but Sunday I felt like I had a full-on hangover. Ah, the joys of being middle-aged. ๐ It's all part of the balance I'm trying to strike – sometimes I have to enjoy myself, sometimes I need to abstain. It stinks to feel crummy all day, though, whatever the reason.
I've found the easiest way for me to hydrate is to lug around a GIANT bottle of water. I usually drink on it absent mindedly, and them, BOOM, it's empty, and I refill it.
Ugh, sorry that you felt so crappy through Savor weekend. ๐ Good luck getting back on track this week. I know the feeling.
Fluid! Fluid! Fluid! Now find that wagon and jump on!!
I agree, hydrate, be careful, and make your come back!
Hope you feel better. I had some weird little bug but it was only 24 hours. Thanks for the hydrating reminder.
Yup – if our current temp's in WI are any indication, you are in for some HOT weather. I have really been good at making sure I drink enough water. It is just so important. You will get back into the swing of things no problem. Here's to good running!
Hope you are feeling better! Getting in the swing of staying hydrated is hard for me when it first heats up. Have fun at the school events!
are you eating bananas? that plus water might help your cramps too….feel better!
