Tonight Beer Geek, the boys and I went to our current favorite brewpub.* They were running a lovely special, which involved a 23 oz glass** to keep filled with a yummy beer. I had their English style stout and it was quite good. When refill time came, they had the option of a $3 refill. I seriously considered that, but when the waiteress mentioned that they had the naughty scott on tap, well, she had me at naughty. It was sooo yummy, but it’s a pretty strong beer. It kind of kicked my butt and brought you these lovely typos.
I ran 6 x quarter mile today.*** I met my goal of 1:58-2:01 quarters, but it was nearly a puketastic run. Even with doing some speedwork, I’m finding that as my endurance increases, my speed at short distances decreases. I think that after this marathon, it will be at least a year again before my next. I like faster shorter runs. I ended up doing 4 miles in 37:05, which was ok, but I’m sort of scared that next week’s PR at teh Four Courts Four Miler will be kind of lame. I’m just gald it’s a guaranteed PR LOL.
*Rock Bottom, soon to be replaced by this one.
**I thought about giving it away here, but I need stuff for the auction basket. At this point, it only includes (for anyone who cares AKA Jamoosh) Dark Starr Love, Lancaster Milk Stout, Clipper City MarzHon, Weyerbacher Fireside Ale, and Founders Porter. If a certain Jamoosh sends me his address, there might be something heading his way in the near future. Don’t worry though, I’m nearly to a “magic” number of visits, so I’ll get more free stuff soon.
** For those of you not familiar with repeats, I ran .25 mile at my prescribed pace, followed by about .12 mile slow jogging, 6 times. I did have to jog slow a little extra between the last few, but I got it done.
Come run in Connecticut! We have the Thomas Hooker Brewery. http://www.hookerbeer.com/I had forgotten what a beer connoisseur you are. Was your post about anything else?!
Sounds like a nice evening out!I find it very difficult to maintain the speed for short distances during marathon training… it's like the legs want to do short & fast or long & slow but not both.
you're hilarious 🙂 I could have used a butt-kicking beer tonight…
I'm pretty sure that if I had 46 oz of beer at this point, I wouldn't be able to even type! One of these days when I can drink again, I'll be starting over as such a lightweight!Nice job on your run!
I'm just gald it's a guaranteed PRWait. Are you glad or galled about this? Because it could go either way.Yeah, I saw you over at boyBuNz's commenting at 9:49 that you had only had THREE beers – on a Friday night!MCM Mama? Pfffttt! More like McM Baby, you ask me!I had reason to stop by the Triumph brewpub in Princeton a couple daze ago (the reason was: I wanted to be drunk), and they had this Rauschbock beer that I ordered and it tasted a bit like bacon! Tres weird, but I ended up liking it. The Naughty Scott sounds good. I would be gald to try some since a mere three of them seems to have effectively slayed the area of your brain that controls spelling (but not the part that controls doing repeats, for which latter, GOOD JOB, MCM Baby!).
I can see how it would be hard to improve both long distance endurance, and shorter distance speed at the same time. Glad you got to enjoy some tasty beer!
2702 White Falls Dr.Pearland, TX 77584Naughty Scott – sounds interesting to say the least.
While I'm not adventurous when it comes to drinking beers, I love the names!
Very cool that you're a beer gal 🙂 …Just stopping by to say hi!
A PR is a PR- always a good thing! Thanks for the warning about the Naughty Scott. I will be prepared should the opportunity arise for me!
The beer sounds delicious! Nice job on the splits. I agree with you–when I am training long, it seems the shorter intervals are that much tougher/slower. But they will still help you at your marathon. Good work.
