Alternate title: Comfort Zones are overrated.
I spent the last 30 hours fairly far outside my comfort zone. I did a few things I’ve never done before – one of which included a worm and a hook. But I’ll tell you all about that in a post next week once I’ve downloaded the pictures.
Anyways, right at the moment, I’m feeling a little bit “I am woman, Hear Me Roar”. So, I am going to capitalize on that and commit to running the North Face Endurance Half Marathon on June 2nd as my 8th half marathon this year.
Who wants to join me?
The North Face Endurance Challenge offers something for everyone: 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon, 50K, and 50 Miles! According to all my local friends, unless it rains (which apparently turns it into a total mudfest), this is a good first trail experience. Since I’ve been running a bunch of half marathons this year and some of them were on dirt/not technical trails, I figure this is my next step.
I said 2013 was going to be epic. Apparently “epic” includes doing things that scare me. Guess I ought to get in a long run this weekend… though I did hike up a tiny mountain yesterday…
Disclaimer: North Face offered me 50% off for declaring my intentions. As you might guess, I would run it anyways and would be blogging about my adventure even without incentive…
Trail races are awesome! You will love it!
Very cool! I’ll be running the marathon relay the day before, and I’m really excited about it. Have a great time! I run these trails often, and your info is correct. As long as it doesn’t rain too much it will be a great introduction to trail running. Nothing too technical, very few hills, and lots of shade.
I want to try a trail race one day… but probably not this year. I’m still too chicken. 🙂 I’ll have to keep this one in mind, tho, since it’s local-ish! 🙂
I so wish we had more half marathons closer to me. Have fun!
Seriously – it’s awesome you have so many races in D.C. I miss that about D.C.!
My first half-ironman [this sept] is a trail half-marathon at the end, but I wasn’t thinking it would be harder, I was hoping it would make it easier!! Jeez. Now I’m even more nervous…
looking forward to the review!!
