What free time looks like:
(Not sure what happened to Shoo’s picture and I don’t have time to fix it right now.)
Yesterday was a day that was 10 years in coming. Both boys were in all day school. That is now my new “normal.” It was a weird day. It was both too long and too short. I didn’t accomplish as much as I’d like because the “I only have 12 hours ALL week to accomplish EVERYTHING” urgency was gone. The house was too quiet. I’m not used to being by myself in my house for 5 hours (I went to a couple of mom get togethers in the morning). Apparently I blog better in chaos because I could come up with nothing to say yesterday. I need to come up with a routine.
On the bright side:
- Both boys loved their teachers
- I got a very short run in that didn’t hurt much
- I reorganized our storage room
- I had champagne at 9 am
Shoo came home with way too much excess energy. Despite the rain, I sent him outside to run laps around the house. Oy. I think it’s going to be a very good thing that we plan to bike to and from school starting next week!
How was your first day of school? (Or day after Labor Day back to reality?)
Next year is when my oldest starts school and I can't stop thinking about it.
First off, our school year starts in August. So mine have been in school for some time now.I was never a stay at home mom, but I did work part time when mine were little. I never seemed to run out of things to do to fill my time on my days off UNTIL they got to middle school.
The champagne at 9 completely threw me for a loop! Hope you enjoy your time at home by yourself!
No children of my own, but I live vicariously through my friends' experiences that you described.Hm, I wonder if my friends have tapped into "champagne at 9am". Sounds like you're onto something!!!Enjoy your new routine 🙂
I LOVE that they are holding up signs! enjoy all this time!
Glad the first day went well! Enjoy your new normal.
9 am champagne! Atta girl!
This is the first year I have both kids in part time school, and I am really looking forward to it! I only get 2 hours, twice a week, once I take into account drop offs and pick ups, but that is 2 training sessions that I don't have to juggle to get! Can't wait till they are both in full time school. That is the year that I plan to do an ironman…
I am having a great beginning of school. I have always loved third graders but now I am discovering I love fourth graders too!
