It’s hard to believe that we are three quarters of the way through 2012. We are nearly one month into the school year. We’ve refinanced our house, I’ve worked a lot of hours, and the kids have kept us busy. I keep thinking “things will slow down soon”, but somehow they never really do. So, I’m just taking things one day at a time.
Running
- Continue to run injury free in 2012. LISTEN to my body and visit my chiro as needed. I seem to be running pain free. Sadly pain free continues to mean super slow and not a lot of miles.
- Build my “base mileage” to at least 30 miles per week. Then consider various training options. Bwahahaha – I haven’t even managed 20 in who knows how long – I’ve stopped tracking and often run “naked.”
- Run a “balls to the wall, leave it all on the course, go right up to the puke threshold (maybe beyond)” 5k at the Love the Run You’re with 5k in February. Did this. Did it at a couple of other races too.
- Run races in at least 4 states – Hoping for some blogging buddy meetups in Ohio, Oregon, Washington, and either Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Massachusetts. – North Carolina is done, Oregon and Washington are done. Iowa is done. I think I’m going to have to accept that 4 is it for this year. (That’s ok, I’ll get five new ones in March of 2013!)
Fitness/Physical Health
- Keep up the 30 minutes of intentional movement every day that I started on December 1. I feel like I’m doing kind of “meh” here, but we’ve been doing a fair number of bike to school days, so I’m actually doing pretty well on this.
- Get the kids moving with me. We are biking a fair amount (Shoo bikes a ton once he gets home too) and I won a fitdesk and Jones wants to try it.
- Keep my focus on veggies and fruits. Continue to strive for 7 a day every day. No problems here.
- Try one new fitness activity this year. (I’d like to say each month but part of being SMART is being realistic LOL) I’ve tried about four new things. I now need to use a certificate for a spin studio.
- Bike enough to make it worth buying a new bike. I’m biking, but I keep buying plane tickets for things, so the bike fund seems to be perpetually empty.
Business
- Continue working for my awesome boss at my job that I enjoy. (Working for someone you’ve been friends with since you were 19 does not suck.) Still loving my job. Between my actual work and a conference last month, I probably worked about 70 hours. I haven’t worked that much in years. I also realized that 50 hours a month is the upper end of what I can manage with everything else I have going on in my life.
- Continue to grow my relationship with my local running store, as a volunteer and a coach. (I actually have a specific goal here, but it’s still under wraps.) Specific goal fell through, but I still volunteer when I can.
- Even though I’m no longer running a coaching business, keep working with moms who want to get back in shape/start running as a volunteer activity. I should just delete this. I’m barely managing to get myself back in shape…
Personal
- Join BURP (a local homebrew club). Not yet.
- Brew a batch of beer at home. Baby steps – I have some of the equipment
- Go out with Beer Geek without the kids at least once every two weeks. Yep.
- Take a trip with Beer Geek. We went wine tasting and stayed at a B&B. No big trip going to happen this year. But in 2013 we will be away from the kids for 10 days. Never mind that it’s in the middle of nowhere Texas.
- Continue to slowly clean out the clutter in our house. Living someplace for 14 years tends to fill a place up LOL. I lost momentum over the summer and worked too many hours in September to find time.
I feel like it’s basically been a good year so far. (I’m sitting here thinking it’s been a “meh” year, but I haven’t been sleeping well thanks to the constant rain of acorns. Pretty sure the “meh” feeling is from being tired.)
Looks like a good year so far to me! And yea for running injury free!
The goals are looking good! I need to declutter this house and I know what you mean about the stuff adding up.
Good reason to blog–to see it all in black and white. And running injury free–that IS a major accomplishment!! And running balls to the wall–that’s a good one for me for 2013. I suck at racing!
It sounds like you have had a good year so far and you still have 3 months to go.
the year is flyyyying.
Im needing to STOP slow and REFOCUS ON MY PRIORITIES.
There’s so many ticks on your goal’s list. You’re having a great year.
