I set myself up for failure today. I know what I need to do to get myself to work out and I pretty much did the exact opposite today.
I got up and showered.
I put on real clothes.
And makeup.
We went out to lunch at Mad Fox.
I drank almost no water.
I had a beer with lunch.
I wanted to get in a 3 mile run today. I was not at all in the mood to run due to the above facts and the 20 degree drop in temperature. (I don’t mind cold weather. I don’t. But these extreme temperature swings are making it really hard for me to acclimate.) It’s windy out.
Yada yada yada. I just couldn’t find the mental strength to even do that first mile.
Finally, I put on shorts and a running bra. I started a timer and hit the treadmill. Then I got off and lifted. Then I hit the treadmill again. I repeated this until 30 minutes was up.
Was it the workout I planned? No
Did it advance my running endurance? Probably not (only 2 miles of interval running).
Was it as good for my body and mind as a 3 mile run would have been? Yep.
And that’s all that matters sometimes.
Awesome job! Way to get in your workout!!
Awesome job! It is still good for you and a lot more than a big % of people out there!
At least you did something! Tomorrow you won't repeat the shower and dressed part! 🙂
Good job getting it in when you thought you wouldn't. I know just what you mean. A day off with such pressure is not a fun day off.
Be thankful for getting a workout in, whether it was a 3 mile rn or not. http://www.dashingdiva.net
i had the same kinda day! i wanted to get out there and run, but ended up running the treadmill and dong weights. it wasn't quite what i had planned, but i didn't stay on my bum!
Hey – you got some miles in – give yourself credit for that! Sometimes I really enjoy running after a beer! There is something so relaxing about it. No stress, no worrying about times, just enjoying a run after a beer. 😉
i think it's awesome that you got your workout in!i have the hardest time getting my runs done if they aren't done in the morning, first thing. the only exception to that is my weekly track workout on wednesday nights – because i have a group i meet there and it is on my calendar and a commitment. otherwise, i have to plan for early in the day or i will lose my mojo.so – good for you! i am impressed and inspired!
I'm the same way. I really need to get up and go workout right away or the day will just slip away and I'll find some excuse. It's super impressive that you were able to turn the day around and get in the workout! Sometimes a totally different workout is just want the body and soul need anyway!
Sometimes you just have to be flexible and doing something, anything, is way better than doing nothing at all. I had a shocking run on Saturday which left me totally depleted and exhausted. I couldn't do more than a few stretches yesterday (instead of strength training) and today I managed some yoga. I figure at least I'm moving.
Great job! At least you did something. Most people would not have.
You are a better person than me – I think. I don't work out after drinking the first beer of the day. Then again, knowing I am going to drink beer, I always get my workout in early.
You did a lot more than you wanted to do or felt like doing, and that counts! Well done!I hear you on the temp swings. It's killing me.
Good for you!
