Look!! You can finally see grass in our front yard! Maybe some day all the snow will be gone.
Today’s run was not much fun. I was supposed to do 8 miles and there was just no way that was going to happen. I woke up tired. My quads were a bit stiff (the ice bath definitely helped my feet and calves though). It was cold, grey, and windy. I thought about skipping it all together, but decided that even if it was a short, slow run, it would be good for my legs. All I can really say about it is that I finished 4 miles. I think I may be on the edge of overtraining. I’m always tired and my legs never seem fresh. Thankfully, next week is a fallback week, so hopefully I’ll feel better when my next hard week starts. I’m also hoping to get new tires for the car, get a haircut, and buy some new shoes. It’s amazing how little “free” time you have when you run 30+ miles a week at my slow pace. I’d love to be a fast runner if only so that it would take up less of my time LOL.
FIRST! :)Betcha haven't seen grass in a while! Hopefully it will stick around and not get buried again.Sounds like a recovery week is in order… enjoy!
You are not a slow runner…your long run at just over 10:00 pace. My long runs are more like 11:00-11:30 pace…I am slow! I am jealous of your grass. We got 18 inches the end of last week, so grass is a long way off. 🙂
I always hated that dirty, half-melty snow. But I do recall the joy of seeing grass again after a long winter!
Could you BE any more wordy on Wordless Wednesday? You have my wordless apology for your run:…
Yay for the grass!I wish to be faster for the same reason – it would be nice for a long run to not eat so much time of the day up. Oh well.
I am thinking I might be getting burned out too although I think I am fighting off a bug that is making me tired. We have some grass peaking through too and a few Iris leaves and daylilly leaves poking through the snow!!!
You have doing some major miles lately…your body just needs a little rest. 4 miles was just what your body needed!
Training for a half is so time consuming, can't even imagine what it takes to do a full. Hope you recover soon, and yeah, yeah, yeah to grass!!!!

Yeah to the grass! Hope you get your zing back! Prob the 4 instead of 8 was a good thing!
Wow grass!! Ours is still quite bashful!
yeah for grass….some days are good, some are bad but through it all you keep running…and that's awesome!
I'm sooo over the cold weather … and snow – the little bit we've gotten in Atlanta. This is my first time here. I love that you are running the states. Really cool. Looking forward to reading more.Winks & Smiles,Wifey
Can't believe that you had a long run on Tuesday and then were going to do 8 today. I'd rethink that. You really need to give your legs a day to recover. 2-4 miles is a perfect recovery run. Remember x-train or rest are JUST as important as your runs. Listen to your body. I think it's talking to you!
Yay for grass! It is supposed to be in the upper 50s this weekend. Shorts weather!! Hope you guys get some sun soon!
Slushy, dirty snow, yuck, grass yay!Sometimes life dictates when you have to get things in. Whatever you have to do, just NO junk miles, everything has purpose – even if it's a long run backed up to an 8 miler.
Listen to your body if it's tellng you to rest. I was stupid and didn't and am now into month five of recovering from overtraining syndrome. You'll be smarter than I was
isn't is wonderful to finally see grass?
