They’ve drunk the koolaid

January 14, 2011 by MCM Mama 25 Comments

This morning, after a 30 minute run/walk with one client, I headed out for a run with two others.  Their longest run before meeting with me was 30 minutes.  Last week, we got up to 3 miles.

Today, not only did they finish 3.5 miles, they finished 15 seconds faster per mile than that first run.  I make them talk the whole time, so they are definitely going a comfortable speed and both commented that they thought they could go farther today (we didn’t, I don’t want to break them).

As we were stretching, we got talking about doing the four miler in March.  They both swear up and down that they won’t ever run a marathon, but suddenly they were talking about doing a Disney half marathon next winter.  I told them that we’d train for a 10K this spring, maintain over the summer, and start training for a half in the fall.

One turned to the other and said “Oh my gosh, we’re RUNNERS!”

I love my job!

That is totally cool! You must feel great and should be smiling from ear to ear. Sometimes we simply need someone to believe in us . . . and in this case – that someone, is YOU!

That is wonderful! Love it when people get excited about fitness and health! Besides, if we get enough people on board we could take over the world!! Just think – we could have running trails connecting all the cities with all the suburbs! Okay, yeah – I'm not the one to be in charge if we take over the world, because that's all I've got.
