1. This weekend my dad and I are running the Army 10 miler. I’m not in good enough shape to break 1:30, so I think I’m going to try to convince him to just run it for fun. It’s my last year running it, so I’d kind of like to enjoy the sights rather than pushing myself hard for 10 miles. I’m also excited about the expo because it’s huge and I actually have time to look around this year.
2. Remember that 6-8 miles I wanted to do on Tuesday? I ended up doing 10.1, most of it with my neighbor. I’m pretty sure I talked non-stop the whole time. I think he might have to start running with an ipod so he can’t hear me. On the bright side, I’ve discovered is that if I’m talking, I’m running a pace I can run for a really long time. I had to make myself stop running on Tuesday.
3. Since I only have two more races left in 2010 (Army 10 miler and a Turkey Trot), I’m starting to put my calendar together for 2011. Looks like Montana and Kansas will be the distant states next year. Now to figure out which nearby states I’m going to try to hit. I refuse to comment on what my longest race next year will be. ;o) Got a race you think I should do? Or a brewery you think I should hit? Input welcome during the planning process.
If you are near Kansas City, 75th Street is a must.On another note, keep in mind that everyone has their own perfect distance. Forget the peer pressure and do what you know you will enjoy.
The Army 10 mile sounds like a blast! I think it is so cool that you and your dad can run together:) Every race that I have been in where the military services people run…..I find out that they kick butt! Good luck and have fun:)
We've got the Earth, Bread, Brewery a mile from my house. I'm not enough of a beer drinker to comment on its quality, but everyone else seems to like it…And you've got a place to crash, if you decide to come up and check it out!
Maybe I'll see you on Sunday. I'm running the Army 10 miler as well. Of course I'll be far behind you. I'm looking to finish around 1:50.
I'm also starting to put together my wish list for next year. I want to get in some good races and do a little traveling for the first time!I love that your 6-8mile run turned into 10! You must be feeling great!
Yay for Kansas!
not to push you but, the National Marathon on March 27th? I am coming down for it:)
Interesting to see everyone planning for 2011. My main goals are planned till end of 2013. I’m a bit crazy with that but the long term goals help me stay focused. I always recommend the talk test for finding your ultra pace. If you can’t talk comfortably you are running too fast.
let me know when you are ready to come to NM. I have friends that can hook you up with the better breweries.I'm assuming you want me to check out those races in the Sandia Mountains as potential options for some future date. 😉
Oh I KNOWWWW you're gonna hit aother marathon! :)Good luck at the Army 10!
Good luck at the Army 10 this weekend! Have fun with your dad! Can't wait to hear about what races you've chosen.
Canada is probably TOO much of a distant stretch, but we do have some great breweries here on the East Coast! Happy planning!
Have you considered Eugene in May? Oregon is know for some great micro brews!
Yeah for the Army 10 miler! That will bea great run to enjoy the scenery.Another Yeah for going a little farther on your run! Distraction is a great motivator!Races? Hummm? You could join me in March for one of two 50ks in Maryland. It's be fun!
Come over to kansas. You can do the Olathe race in April and make sure to sign up for the Boulevard Brewery tour in Kansas City. No lack of good beer places here 🙂 oh and races too!
When you get to Utah, hit Squatters. PLENTY of races, all distances, all year long.
So jealous. Woould love – love – love to run with my dad!!
Just run the races and distances you like to run. And you don't have to race every time you race – I used quite a few of my races as training runs.I just put together a rough draft of my schedule for next year on my blog. It seems to be all over the place, New York to New Mexico, Ohio to Oregon, Fargo to Florida!
I did the Missoula MT marathon this year. It was great! I think it is great that you run with your dad!! Good luck and have a fun race!
I really enjoyed the 10miler I did this year – I think you have more in you than you think! Good luck! Can't wait to see what 2011 holds for you!!!
Have fun at the ATM with your dad! I really enjoyed that race when I ran it a few years ago.
Bluepoint Brewery, hit it in March for the NYC 1/2 marathon or LI half/or full in MAY.http://www.bluepointbrewing.com/NYC is so much fun & will give you a taste for doing the full next November!!
If you are in Kansas please let me know. We have family there and go back periodically. We are from Salina. There is a fun 5 mile run in Salina for the Smokey Hill River Festival. Its an art, food, fun festival the second weekend of June.
There's no better race in Montana than the Missoula Marathon/Half, my hometown race. If that's where you're headed I can point you to the best beer in town, other running moms and beer runners, and all the great things Missoula has to offer. Have a great time at the Army 10 Miler!
