1. I thought about becoming a streaker. I ran eight days in a row, including a strong 10 mile run, 6 miles of hills, and a 4.5 mile speed workout. Yesterday I gave blood. I spent the rest of the day with barely enough energy to walk up the stairs. I feel better today, but I know from past donations, my runs will be impacted for about a week. Since I want to run a really strong 11 miles on Friday, I’m taking a rest day today.
2. Last night at Cub Scouts, Jones heard about a sleep away camp this summer. He REALLY wants to go. The catch is, he’s never been away from us for more than two nights. I’m leaning towards letting him go though. He’s one of those kids who doesn’t want to try things until he’s ready, but when he says he’s ready, he’s usually right. Any thoughts from those of you with kids who go away to camp?
3. I walked the boys to school today wearing my Vibrams without socks. The air may have been warm, but the ground definitely wasn’t. I couldn’t feel my feet by the time I got home. Note to self: if it’s been cold out, don’t wear the Vibrams or wear a pair of socks.
And the winner of the ALO capris is….
Beth from SwimBikeRunDC! Shoot me an email at mom2shoo at gmail.com as soon as you can!
I would be so nervous about sending my kids away to camp…but I know they will want to sooner or later. I'm not sure how I would make the decision. Good luck with that.Hope today's rest makes for a great run tomorrow!!
How do you like the Vibrams? I just bought a pair!
I can't wear my vibrams in the cold either! I know the time is coming whenmy son will ask to go to an overnight cub scout camp. I think he will love it, but, like your son, he has not been away from us for more than one night. Hope you feel better soon! You may need to eat a nice big steak for a little more iron!
I've been secretly streaking and haven't had any problems (knock on wood)……….
Good for you for giving blood 🙂
i think streakers are crazy. but i get injured every day, so that's probably why.
My feet are cold just thinking about that!Every time I find myself running 6-7 days straight, I start thinking abotu streaking… luckily, I always reconsider. :)Hope you're feeling better!
That's an awesome streak. I struggle just to stay consistent.
How long is camp? If it's a week, pack 'em up! If it's a month, more consideration seems necessary.
That's an impressive streak! I'm a bit too nervous about potential injuries to start one.
Congrats Beth!My feet get cold just walking around the house sometimes.
hmm, good point about the vibrams, i've often wondered if you can feel the temperature of the ground below. So if its 90 degrees out do you feel the heat too??
I have sent my daughter away to horse camp for the past two summers and she loves it, but she let us know when she was ready. My 9 year old would probably never go. I think that it depends on the child. I will tell you that she came back so grown up. Kind of a new kid, but it was the best thing she could have done.
Oh, thats me! Thank you so much, I'll send you an email right now!
I stopped giving blood because I became too light-headed and would have to wait over an hour to be capable of driving. I donated platelets a couple of times and that wound up very difficult too. I had ordered the vibrams and then my Barney Rubble feet couldn't fit in them. 🙂 I think it's awesome that Jones is ready for sleep away camp, I don't think I ever was!
