I had to miss out on Ragnar DC this year due to an overloaded schedule, but “my” team rocked the heck out of Ragnar DC and came in second in the all women category. Obviously, moms make the best Ragnar teammates!
- Sleep deprivation doesn’t scare them – Ragnar has nothing on a cranky newborn.
- They’ve learned how to sleep anywhere and in any position.
- Moms can go from dead asleep to running in minutes.
- Showering is a luxury and they are used to putting clean clothes on a body that’s not.
- Moms carry baby wipes with them wherever they go.
- Moms can park a minivan in a spot that’s only two inches bigger than the car.
- Snacks. Moms never leave home without them.
- Moms are used to having no personal space and no privacy for bodily functions.
- It takes a village to raise a baby and a team to run a Ragnar Relay. Moms get that.
- Moms are so excited by a night away from the kids that a run in the dark in the rain and cold sounds like a vacation.

haha, I’m not a mom – but I love this. Hysterical and so true.
I am hoping to run my first Ragnar next year. I can easily see how all of those reason are true.
hahahaha, this is hilarious. love it!
My husband always complains about how disorganized my son’s sports are–and I joke that it’s because they are run by men! We moms think about so much more than just scheduling a practice.
Great post!
I think you hit it right on the head!!!
This is hilarious! It’s so funny and so true!
Haha! Yes to all. I even find the dentist’s chair relaxing.
Yup so true for sure! Still bummed we missed the last one!
This is hilarious, but I bet so true. I can’t wait to experience these same thoughts someday soon. And I also hope to run a Ragnar soon.
I don’t even have kids and I was laughing my butt off! I am sure all moms reading this are shaking their head in agreement…especially #10!
Kid #2 is currently 6 weeks old. I wholeheartedly agree with this whole list… especially #3 and #10. I watched Ragnar go right by my house this year (I’m in Germantown). Maybe next year I’ll run it!
Love all these, especially #10 🙂 So true!
LOL! Yes, you are absolutely right. Agreed also on #10!
LOL! Yup!
Ok, so this mom can’t sleep anywhere at anytime, but I guess that just means see #1 – lack of sleep doesn’t scare me!
Great post!
Ha! So true! Hubby had been away for 6 weeks and came back the night before. All I could think of was getting a break and I didn’t care if it was in rain, flooding or a hurricane!
So true! So, so, so true! Maybe I should try one.
I’ve always heard that Ragnar is a great bonding experience for the teams. I can only imagine how great it must feel to be able to bond with other moms while enjoying a “vacation” away from the kids.
Haha! Loved this! All so very true!
Sooo true!! You totally nailed it!!
DROPS mic and walks off! I LOVED IT!!!! LOLOLOL No truer words have been spoken. NO PERSONAL SPACE EVER AT ALL!!! GEESH.
A Ragnar is on my dream to-do list. Moms are make the best everything 🙂
Hahaha! Awesome post! Now I want to run a Ragnar even more!
I’m always proud of my SUV parking skills in tight spot in Manhattan and Essex County NJ! I wouldn’t be scared of Ragnar either! 😀
#truth
Your team was awesome! I think I saw their van at the beginning at that was it! They were rolling!
Love this – I’m dying to do a Ragnar someday!
