Not only did I not get my 5 hours of freedom (AKA Shoo in preschool), but I had to co-op today, which meant I got to spend those 5 hours playing with other people’s children. As an added bonus, I got to be in the infant/young toddlers room. The day went fine, but I’m not a big fan of the younger set. I have a low threshold for crying and at one point, more than half of the 7 were crying at the same time. I think I had a child in my arms the entire day and I’m exhausted! (Don’t get me wrong, I’m good with them, I just would prefer older kids).
When Beer Geek got home and heard that I had spent the day in that room, he told me to go for as long a run as I needed LOL. I ended up doing 4.5 miles, 4 of which were 9 minute miles or a bit faster. My worst mile was slow because I was carrying Jones’ lunchbox under my arm. He’d forgotten it at school, so I ran over and picked it up. I have a new respect for football players who sprint the length of the field with the ball. LOL It felt extremely strange to hold one of my arms mostly still while running.
Todays stats:
Running – 4.5 miles in 40:55
Walking – 1.5 miles
Baby wrangling – 5 hours
Strength training – abs
I’m ready for bed!
sounds like a busy day, and a great run! enjoy the sleep 🙂
Glad you got to relax! I don’t see how people run with those hand-held water bottles!
Yipes…that is quite the day! Nice job on the run and baby wrangling. I think you deserve an end of the day beer!
I’m with you – I even work better with teenagers that I do screaming infants. Great job on the workouts – I admire you for being able to get all that in a day! 🙂
heyI clicked over here from uncommon julia and have added you to my favs list (as I sit here dripping after a 13km run!)
Wow, sounds like quite a day.By the way, we LOVED DC. We will definitely be back soon.
Well, if you can carry a clunky lunch box while you run, you can certainly carry a beer while running! Just think of the possibilities…
I totally don’t knopw how child care providers handle all that cryig!! Sounds like an awesome active day!!
Yeah, typing one-handed while b-feeding at mid-night is NOT my forte!
I love the exercise summary at the end (I started laughing out loud at baby wrangling).
I agree, babies and toddlers are the hardest. Glad to hear you were able to run, that always helps me after days like that.
Busy day – I would need to go for a run after 5 hours with all those kids too!
When Beer Geek got home … he told me to go for as long a run as I neededYou FOOL!!1! That just leaves more beer for HIM!1!What a rookie mistake!Way to get that run in, Ms. Heismann trophy model!
Dang. I wouldn’t do well with the little ones for an hour let alone five of them.I once carried a big manila envelope for three miles of a six mile run, all the time switching hands in order not to crease or get too much sweat on it. It sucked.
Sounds like a rough day. I think as humans our biological reaction to the sound of babies crying is about the same as to, say, a gun pointed at our head. Seven babies crying = seven loaded guns, and you’re begging for them to please shoot. Thank goodness for an understanding husband.
I’m kinda fearful of taking care of just one kid, so I can’t imagine having a whole room full of them!
I can’t run with anything in my hands (or even a fuel belt). I don’t know how people do it either.
It’s how I “cure” any thoughts of wanting a third kid – I walk into the toddler room just for a few minutes.Hope you got enough rest!
I work with 1 year olds at my church once a month. It’s the longest hour of the month! It is hard to run carrying something. I’ve tried carrying a water bottle in my hand, football style, every which way—it’s just annoying.
