1. Today I have 12 miles on the schedule. It’ll be my longest run in months. I’m ready for it, but I realized yesterday when I was looking at my calendar that Shoo gets out of preschool early today. That means by the time I drop off kids, run, and get back to the house, I’ll barely have time to shower before it’s time to pick him up again. I’m not a fan of days where I spend my entire free time running.
2. My kids have shared a lot of different illnesses with their dad this year. I’m not sure how I’ve escaped, but *knocking wood until my knuckles bleed* so far I have. The newest thing that Jones shared was pink eye. Beer Geek came home with it last night. I’m just happy that I haven’t caught it yet. Running 12 miles in my glasses or not being able to see is not high on my list of activities!
3. Sign up opened yesterday for the Marine Corps Marathon. As my long time readers know, I started this blog to stop boring my family document my journey to that marathon in 2008. It was all I could do yesterday to NOT sign up again. It’s such an awesome marathon. It does, however, necessitate training during the summer when it’s hot out and my kids aren’t in school. And did I mention, it’s hot out? I loathe Virginia summers. I loathe them even more when I have to do 20 mile runs during them. I just hope the darn thing sells out soon so I don’t accidentally hit the register button. ;o)
Bonus things:
I’ve updated my Virginia, Maryland, DC Running Bloggers page with all the blogs I read and/or got emails from. If you aren’t on there and want to be, email me at mom2shoo at gmail.com and I’ll add you. (And if I accidentally missed you, sorry, life’s been a bit crazy.)
Also, blogger says I’m nearing my 700th post – that shouts “Giveaway” to me. So, the question is, should I giveaway one of my favorite running products or something beer related, hmm….
I thought I had pink eye last week, and maybe I did, but it cleared on its own, whatever it was.
I prefer fall marathons because it is not so cold and dark. And I have more time in the summer to train. But I do it early before it is too hot.
I hit the Register button for MCM yesterday. I am absolutely terrified.
i always get the register itchies, even if i have no intention of doing the race. the madness just gets to me!
Pink eye is terrible! My daughter was around 1 yr old, we were 3 days from taking our very first family picture… and then I got pink eye! I looked totally hot with one eye swollen shut.
I'm having the fall marathon debate with myself right now though I know it won't be MCM. I have nothing on the race schedule after May 1 and it's driving me a little crazy.Hope the 12 miler goes well!
I hate marathon training during VA summers. That's why I'm training for National, so I can take the summer off from crazy long runs!
Oh my god, I was also so tempted by MCM yesterday! I haven't caved yet but I definitely might…Good luck with the 12 today!
I've heard so many good things about that marathon. Probably won't get there this year, but have tentative plans for next!! ๐ 700 posts, that's awesome!!!!
I hear you on number one–just 30 minutes free can make all the difference. We'll wait and see if you can hold off on MCM!
Yesterday was the first time since my December marathon that I've even remotely considered for the teeny tiniest second about doing another marathon. I got over it real quick when I thought about training runs of 15+ miles in TN in August and September. HELL to the NO!
My free time is basically non existent and that's why I run early in the morning. Stay pink eye free, it sucks! Yay for the marathon, I've read only great things about marine corps.
I vote "hit register". That way, we can both train in the heat together…just several states away from each other, and for different events. Sorry to hear about the pink eye! I hope you escape the wrath.
BOTH! (beer + running products) Duh… :)Congrats on exercising restraint and not registering yesterday. I know that feeling!!
Pink eye must be going around — I had it a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully (for me), boob juice helps clear it up quickly.
I'd go for beer related. =)
I am soooo tempted to register for the MCM. I keep opening the registration page. Then closing it. Eek!Hope you avoid that pink eye — yuck o!
Temptation conquered. MCM just closed. I am glad I registered yesterday, even though I only did it so early to keep from talking myself out of it.
I had pink eye in 3rd grade, bummer. I wish i registered for MCM! Def my second favorite marathon! I can't wait to go run it with Ryan someday! And maybe meet up with you for a beer at the end ๐
I hope your run went well! Don't get pink eye, and I prefer no marathons! ๐
Yeah on MCM!!! That is great news. And having had more bad runs then good ones in the last few months, I am with you. The good news is that you are inspiring as far as getting back out there and beating your bad run with an amazing one!
