1. I expected to wake up yesterday morning with sore legs. Surprisingly, except for my cranky calf (which really needs to see the chiro ASAP), my legs felt good. Unfortunately, I could not say the same about my upper body. I’d slept weird, so my back and neck hurt. I couldn’t lift my right arm without pain and it was difficult to turn my head. Lovely. Thankfully, a couple of handwarmers stuck in the back of my shirt and on my neck and I finally got some relief. I will admit that it didn’t stop me from running. I managed an easy 3 on the treadmill without turning my head LOL.
2. One of my goals in 2012 is to hit 100 miles every month. I’ve been really good about hitting my overall mileage every year (except last year, the year I plan to forget), but I’m not very good at keeping a consistent base of running. With my bad attitude about long runs this month, I ended up having to cram a lot of miles in at the end. Luckily, I really needed a long run of the double digit variety, so this was added incentive. Also, thankfully it was a leap year and I ran 3 easy miles on the treadmill yesterday to hit 101.5 for the month. Talk about cutting it close LOL.
3. I am approaching my five year “raciversary”. I was a runner way before that, but five years ago one of my friends convinced me to run my first race. I’m sure I would have made a ton of newbie mistakes (and did actually make a few), but thankfully, she talked me through the whole process. As you guys have probably already figured out, that was the first step towards my racing addiction. This weekend I’m racing an 8k (I think for the first time since that race) and I have little hope of beating the PR I set that day. I’ve apparently accomplished lots of things since that first race, but getting consistently faster is not one of them. Sigh.

I hope your neck feels better. Way to get your miles in!
Congrats on five years of racing! Hope the soreness goes away soon. Cheers!
Happy Raciversary! Geesh, I don’t even know when my first race was?
hope your neck feels better! Happy Raciversary! 5 years of racing – that’s awesome!
i’ve slept weird on my neck three different times this week. ouch. and take that cranky calf in!
I couldn’t remember my first race if I tried. I love that you can! The real question is not are you getting faster, it is are you loving it more?
Congrats on hitting your mileage goal and doing what it took to make it happen. woot woot
Congrats on getting those 100 miles in! And 5 years of racing is a big milestone… great idea to keep track!
raceaversary – freaking love it!
love that you did 11 in Vibrams – you rock.
Just had the same issue with mu neck and upper back. And because I’m getting so old it took 7 days and two visits to the physio to get rid of it. I’m hoping one good sleep will have you feeling as good as new.
Happy racirversary! 5 years of racing is quite an accomplishment!
FIVE YEARS IS AWESOME!!!!!!
I’m glad you could put that extra day to good use!
OH my gosh, your “ugly” first race photo had me cracking up, since mine was way worse. I was red, sweaty, had a bad outfit and a badly fitting fanny pack on….there was nothing good about that photo. So, even if I haven’t become a better runner since then, I have learned to dress like I know what I am doing! 🙂 Congrats on your 5 year anniversary!
Congrats on the 5 years! And for the 100 miles, too!
Hope your neck feels better! Happy Runiversary!
