TTT: Spilled milk, wasted gas, and low mileage

February 23, 2012 by MCM Mama 19 Comments

1. Today I’m having one of those days where I’d like to get back in bed and start over. So far today I’ve spilled an entire thermos of organic milk (at what that stuff costs per gallon, I do nearly cry over spilled milk), dropped my fried egg on the floor, and showed up for a chiro appointment and had no one be there. Not exactly a successful day so far. I think that should be a perfect excuse to curl up on the couch with a book and not move all day. Right?

2. This week I had to go to Annapolis for a meeting with a conservation group. I drove my Pilot because the potential for stop and go traffic was high (and did indeed occur) and my civic is stick shift. As I parked in a lot full of Prius, Smart cars, and Zip cars, I felt like I totally lost environmentalist cred. I wanted to put on a button that said “no, really, I usually drive a civic.” LOL

3. Running is going well. I can run my easy runs a bit faster and still have them feel easy. Four to six miles has become a breeze. My calf sometimes gets tight and the balls of my feet get a little roughed up when I run too many barefoot miles, but generally speaking everything is working right. So, what’s my problem? I have no desire to run more than 6 miles at a time. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Which would be fine, except I’m running the Blue Ridge Half Marathon in April. Ummm…

I’d cry over spilled organic milk too! Really funny about the parking lot experience. A hat so you could hide your shame would have been good. ; )

You better run some hilly miles longer than six for that one! Get moving…

The only time I don’t love my Jetta TDI is when I’m in a traffic jam. Sometimes I think I can hear my clutch crying out for mercy.

Wow what a morning. I sure hope the day when up from there.

At least you didn’t have a nasty note on your car when you got back to it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ YOu know something like,
    “Hey Mama,
    Shame on you.
    ..the Planet”

You could always look at it as running 6 miles 2.o2 times.

I’ve cried over spilled water and definitely would shed a tear for spilled organic milk. We take expensive food products very seriously around here, at least I do!!

LOL about the Pilot in the middle of a lot with more fuel efficient cars! ๐Ÿ™‚ Sounds like an annoying day, but it’s almost over!

Ugh, I hate those days! Too funny about all the smart cars… I wish I lived in a place like that. We’re surrounded by suv’s and pick up trucks here. ๐Ÿ™‚ You’ve still got time for the half… don’t push yourself when you’re not feeling it, I bet your motivation will return!

the prius’s and such that i usually see are covered in hippie bumper stickers and that just irritates me. and i’m *such* a tree hugger. people throw away the copier (print job) cover sheets at work and i will pull them out of the trash and put them in the recycling bin. anyway, don’t feel bad. ๐Ÿ™‚ spilling organic milk, i would cry too!
