I’m feeling a little rough this morning. Beer Geek and I went out last night and I had three beers over the course of the evening. I woke up hung over this morning. WTH? Pretty sure it’s because I didn’t eat until after we drank, so beer on an empty stomach tore me up. Sometimes I feel so old LOL. Guess I’ll wait till tomorrow to start half marathon training again.
I want to run 5 more half marathons this year. My travel budget has been earmarked for the Riverboat Series next spring (I can’t resist five halves in five days) and for a family trip to Ireland next summer.
So, here’s where you come in!
Where should I run?
- Must be within 4 hours of DC
- Sunday race would be preferable
- Near someone who wants to let me sleep on their couch would be even better (hint, hint)
- Has to happen between September 6 and December 30.
I’ve already got Richmond on my calendar, with floor space reserved on GBA Runner’s yacht. ;o)
Help a girl out!
(And now I’m going back to my nuun and graham crackers… breakfast of (hungover) champions!)
Well…I did the Philly Rock N Roll half last September, and it was just ‘eh’, so it fits in your parameters but I can’t say it’s amaze-balls. I can’t believe you are planning another 5-in-5!!! Crazy.
I’ll keep an eye out…and I do have a guest room 😉
I want to be young and able to run well the day after a night of drinking…oh well.
And, I wish I could stay on the yacht with you, lucky!
Just mapquested DC to Hartford to make sure that they aren’t 4 hours apart. Dang.
I ran the Annapolis Half Marathon last December and had a great time. Not too big, easy parking, and you can have your bib sent to one of several Pacers store locations in the area for early pickup. It is a Saturday race, but I already had my bib and it was easy in and easy out. The course was really very nice: kind of hilly, beautiful downtown, over the river. I might do it again sometime. http://annapolisrunningclassic.com/
I was going to suggest the Annapolis Half also. I’ve never run it, but I have friends who did it last year. There’s also the Baltimore Half (Oct 13th this year, I believe). Baltimore puts on quite a party! I did the associated 5K last year, and if I weren’t already booked to go to Vermont that weekend to run a HM there, I would totally be doing the Baltimore Half.
I’ll see you in Richmond! I’m running the full. Next year I am going to concentrate on halfs instead of running fulls.
There are a couple halves up here in NY but I think they have all sold out.
I ran the Baltimore half marathon in… 2011? and it was a really great event. I believe it is mid October.
I’m running the Baltimore Half October 12th. There’s one September 14th in DC and another on November 17th in Carderock, MD, both put on by the Safety and Healthy Foundation. I run the one in Carderock last November and it was great. Not too long of a drive and very easy to get to. A nice small race that’s on the C&O canal towpath and it’s mostly flat. Here’s the website for all their upcoming races:

Annapolis or Baltimore half! I’m running baltimore and am undecided about Annapolis but I ran Annapolis in it’s inaugural year (it was awesome) and I’ve heard awesome things about Baltimore (it’ll be my 5th half!)
