Remember that 10k I’ve been babbling about? Yeah, I ran that today. The best thing I can say about the actual run is that I finished.
I’ll post a real race report later, but some highlights:
- A wicked hill at the half mile point that I could barely *walk* up – running it was NOT an option
- Legs that were worn out and underfueled and turned into lead at mile 4. Too bad it was a 10k.
- My slowest 10k ever – 1:04:17
Oh, well, at least I finished it. Thanks to the hill, I’m not even sure I’ll be able to walk in the morning, but at least it’s just muscle soreness, not injury.
I have another 10k next Saturday and one more the week after. My only goals are to finish a little bit faster each time.
How’s your weekend going so far? Hopefully better than mine. ;o)
ahh I know the feelingI ran a 10k today..was not my worst ever..that is really hard to beat now…but it was not good; 1:03. I had a few problems…huge cramp in one calf, mega blister on big toe (on the side) AND I got stopped by security at a busy intersection to let cars go with 0.5 miles to go….I was NOT happy.
Just keep at it. I live the goals of just improving with each race.Remember speed is all relative…your slowest 10K ever is still faster than my fastest!
I just had my first bad race experience this year. It's really hard at first since you think all races should be awesome. The good news is that you still got out there and did it – much better than sitting on the couch and eating ice cream!
10K is a tough distance to begin with…too short to go easy, too long to be able to go hard.
We all have bad races. Learn from it and move forward. Nice job finishing!
don't forget that you are coming back from an injury….next week will be better.
Sometimes getting through those tough races counts more than whatever finish time you get. Great job pushing through it!
it was pretty seriously gross out this weekend. i'm hoping for a random 70 degree day!
Given the weather, I'd say it would be pretty shocking not to run a PW. I don't think it's really possible to race in this heat, at least for me. So I'm impressed that you're doing multiple summer 10ks.
way to get out there and do it! As you know coach every race teaches us something 🙂
Sorry to hear that the race did not go well, but way to push through and finish!
