I’ve lived in the DC area for 16 years. Before that, I lived in the DC burbs, went to a Virginia university and then a North Carolina school for grad school. So, I’ve basically lived in this same area since I was 15. That’s 25 years.
Every spring, the weather in this a bit, umm, erratic. We’ll have a few days of beautiful spring weather, then it will be cool and rainy for a week, then we’ll have a nice spring day, and then an almost summer temperature day. Then it will be cool again, then warm, then rainy… And then, one day, you wake up and it’s summer. It’s not just that it suddenly gets warm – it’s that all of a sudden the humidity hits like an 800 pound gorilla.
And yet, just like every year, yesterday I went for a run on the first really warm day of the year and it sucked. Just like every.other. year. Of course, being the brilliant running coach that I am {sarcasm}, I didn’t eat much before my run and I drank only coffee. And I ran at noon.
Seriously, isn’t the definition of insanity “doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?” Sigh…
Today is going to be a true Monday – Shoo needs a cavity filled and a tooth pulled (yes, again) and I need to figure out if my elderly cat is no longer using his litter box because he’s sick or if he’s just old. I heart Mondays. Not.
i do the same idiotic thing too. i live in NC and its been so erratic here too. ive given up my mid day/late day runs and have become running vampire again. banished myself to predawn runs 🙁 i HATE summer! hope your monday gets better!
I can't imagine running at noon right now, certainly not without water! Play it smarter next time, woman. ;)Good luck with your Monday!
sounds miserable. live and learn. or not. hahahahaha
I know what you mean! I've lived in Virginia from the age of 7 to now with a 2 year break in Myrtle Beach and I complain about it every year!! Which college did you go to? I went to Raddy (Radford) and the hubby went to Tech.
This made me smile. It's weird how we sometimes do something even when we know the result will be not what we like. It also doesn't get better with age…probably worse. Have a good week!
I have done the somewhat the same. The first day it's really nice here – 60 degrees or warmer – I enjoy spending it outside… but forget that the suns rays can be quite intense, even though it doesn't FEEL hot. It never seizes to amaze me how I can burn myself good every spring. … geepers.
DC summer running always knocks you out the first few times. Or until October.
There's no easing into it around here, is there?
I know you would think we would learn. I have to learn the same things yearly. It's a given.. I sure hope you have a good Monday.
Having the same troubles here – I know better…I know I should bring fluids with me yet I don't and am still stumbling home seeing spots.Good luck with the cat and the dentist!
LOL…i am the same way regarding remembering about the weather…and every year I tell myself that I am not going to make THAT mistake again!
I am not of fun of running in hot and humid, thankfully we haven't had that yet here! I am not a big summer fan. I heart spring and fall! Hope it cat is okay.
were you in my brain to write this? seriously i know better and make the same silly mistakes over and over…hey we're busy!
