I’m a Wisconsin girl at heart. I love colder weather. I have no problem going out when it’s cold out, as long as I’ve dressed appropriately. Umm, until this year that is.
This year, I can’t seem to stay warm. I’m wearing ridiculous amounts of layers to bed. I’m choosing the treadmill for nearly every run (ok, my ankle is playing a role in that.) I’m even doing Bikram yoga. Yes, people, I am CHOOSING to be hot for an hour and a half. (And this past summer I actually ran several times when it was over 100 degrees.) Is my inner southerner coming out after nearly 20 years in Virginia?
I ran an easy (and again pain-free) 3.3 miles on the treadmill again today. Yesterday I did Bikram yoga, tomorrow I’ll hit the gym for some time on the elliptical and bike. What’s up with doing something besides running and enjoying it?
Apparently, I’ve become a cross-training, heat loving girl. Where did MCM Mama go (and really, should I even try to get her back)?
(Speaking of cold weather, my post over at Metro DC Mom has some tips for preparing for cold/snow. Hop on over to check out the tips and/or add your own.)
awesome with the cross training.YAY for pain free 3.3.excellent!
Guess you're a Southerner now…
Glad you got some pain-free miles in!
I'm just glad I'm not alone! I am sooo wimpy with the cold this year and it's not like me at all. I'm a winter girl!!! Hopefully we'll both toughen up soon, or it'll be a LONG winter with far too many miles on the rotating belt.
Too much time away from the frozen tundra . . . 🙂
If it doesn't get above freezing soon I am going to cry. This is unusual for VA, right? I don't know if I am going to make it to April.Good on your cross training. I submitted to the cold and used a strength training video this morning.
I've always been a cold weather wimp. Glad you are getting some miles in, pain-free!
I live in the Midwest and I'm being a big winter wimp! Glad you got some pain free miles in!
Damnit, they told me it was because I turned the calendar too many time!!!!
I have been doing well at running in the cold until it snowed and now I feel stuck. I long for hot days again of running in sports bras and running skirts in my bare feet.Good for you for doing the yoga! I have always wanted to try hot yoga.
Do you think it might have something to do with time of day that you fit in your run? i've noticed that my cold tolerance is actually better in the morning. I think it has to do with metabolism. The same temperature later in the day will seem unbearable.
I'm with you. I think it just hit us so EARLY this year. There was no acclimatization. I feel like I'll never be warm again.
