I woke up early (as in before 6am) this morning because I was stressed about today’s storm. I needed a to do a real grocery shopping trip, which I hadn’t done in almost two weeks. Beer Geek suggested I head to the store right then. So, I put on my big girl panties and went out in the dark on the
just barely icy roads. I got there by 6:25 am and it was empty of people and full of food, so the win goes to me!
After I got home and put away the groceries, I decided I needed to try and get as much of my run in outside as possible. I found a loop that was approximately 1.5 miles long that was moderately safe (only slightly icy and not terribly heavy traffic). I did it 5 times. I was getting really strange looks from the people shoveling out their cars by the time I did it the 5th time. I was horribly slow and I had to stop many times so as not to get run over, but it totaled 8 miles. I came home, shoveled snow for an hour, fed everyone lunch, and then hit the treadmill. An hour later (with a last mile at a sub-9 pace), I’d finished 6 more on the treadmill, which left me with a total of 14 for the day! Woohoo!
I’d promised the boys I’d take them outside and PLAY with them, as opposed to shoveling while they played, so I quickly showered, walked to the store for a prescription, and then suited them up to head out. We had a snowball fight, built a fort, and generally raised a ruckus. Then we left our marks in the snow and headed in as the flakes began to fall again.
Shoo (I love that the tassel on his hat left a mark):
The car is already covered in two inches of snow and the winds are picking up. I’d be stressing about losing power, but instead I’m drinking an Anchor Christmas beer. No school for the boys tomorrow and Beer Geek’s office is closed again. Will life EVER return to normal?
