Today I went on my longest run since my injury (and honestly my longest “long run” since the Army 10 miler in October.) It was cold. It was windy. I had chili for lunch…
But I now have 7.3 miles in my mileage bank as I begin my preparation for likely participation in the National Half Marathon. I was aiming for a 10:30 pace (I’m trying hard to follow the high mileage, low speed RRCA philosophy) and I hit it pretty close with an average pace of 10:24. Now I just need to sit down and actually create my training plan.
In non-running related news, yesterday, Jones competed in his cub scout pack’s Pinewood Derby. He rocked it with a second place win in his den. (Call me a bad mom, but I was thrilled he got second place – it was awesome for his ego, but we don’t move on to regionals.) He also won for best craftmanship on his car. Considering this was his first year, I’m a pretty darn proud mama.
Yay for Jones! Pinewood Derby is so much fun, and I love his car. Looks like you're getting back on track with the running. Must feel good.
Congrats to Jones! I have fond memories of my son's pinewood derby adventures.
Love the pic of Jones. I hear a lot about the Pine Wood Derby from my students. "My" boys did it last weekend! Congrats on the long run.
Congrats to Jones! That is one cooooool car! Congrats on your run, it was uber cold out there, that had to equal ARMY!
Congrats to Jones!!My long run distance has gone so far down but I am hopeful and its nice that 7 miles feels like 13 since it doesn't take as long to find that sweet spot!
Yay for Jones and congrats to you Mama, 7 miles is great.
Congrats to Jones!

Good job! And Congrats to Jones!
Great car. Congrats on the run too!
Congratulations on the run – isn't it funny how 'first run since injury' runs are more exciting than the first time you ran that distance?Congratulations to Jones!

Congrats to the future CEO of Ford! 🙂 I remember when 5 miles was an eternity, so don't ever discount your long runs-no matter how long/short they seem:)
