My first of five half marathons in five days is done! Kentucky is done! It was hard, but I’ll give you the details in a few days. I’m just happy I finished it.
Since I’m going to be a little busy running for the next few days, I decided to combine the giveaways for the five races. So, there will be five items and five winners!!! These are all items that I love! I’m so glad I get to share them with my readers!
1. Two tubes of Nuun (winner’s choice of flavor) + a Nuun water bottle – we all know I drink a lot of Nuun. A lot!
2. Two pairs of Feetures socks (winner’s choice) – I’ve recently started running in these socks when I don’t have on compression socks and I LOVE them. I’ve had no issues – no blisters, no bunching, no problems.
3. A tub of Ultima Red Raspberry + 3 samples of other flavors – I was recently introduces to Ultima and it is awesome. No sugar and nothing artificial and it tastes great!
4. Signed copy of “Train like a Mother” + a headband from Another Mother Runner – I haven’t used their training program yet, but I’ve heard it’s great! And who doesn’t want a non-slip headband?
5. A month’s supply of a variety of Honest Tea products – I love Honest Tea. I have to admit though that the Honest Fizz sodas they make are my favorite!
Want to give some of my favorite products a try? Enter the giveaway! Meanwhile, I’m heading out to run Tennessee. Wish me luck!
Disclaimer: All of the above items were given to me for the giveaway. All opinions are my own.
Jax Marine Corp Half, it was brutally hot (so was the water) and my sister did not go so I went solo.
Hate it when my water gets warm when I’m running!
It was in Williamsburg VA. It was HOT. Like 85 and 100% humidity. Felt like I was gonna die!! Walked the last three miles
Virginia likes to pull that crap. That’s why I sometimes stop running in the summer LOL.
I did a half marathon up in New Mexico up a volcano. Crazy uphill combined with elevation. Hardest thing ever, but so, so beautiful.
Which volcano? I think I walked up that one when I was out there for Dust Bowl. I want to do that race at some point!
Mount Capulin….probably the same one you walked. Unfortunately, the race was cancelled for this year, but I hope it makes a return. It was small and quirky and lots of fun!
My hardest race was the half I just did 2 weeks ago. I was coming off of a 10k PR the week before and my first full marathon 3 weeks before, so my legs were tired. Then about 1/4 of the race ended up being on loose large gravel rocks! I was not prepared for that at all!
I’m not a fan of running on gravel. And I hear you on racing on tired legs – it’s hard!
Wow! 5 in 5 days!! Next week I’ll start 3 over 3 weeks, starting with my very first half ever! Best of luck to you!!
Good luck with your half marathons!
Thank you!! 🙂
I just started running 2 months ago, so no races yet. My most challenging runs always seem to be on the weekends, but I can’t figure out why…
Are you starting at a different time or eating differently?
Not eating differently, but I do start a little later (5:00am on week days, 7:00am on weekends). I think it is a mental thing; I really enjoy the dark and quiet pre-dawn. When the sun rises and the running and biking traffic picks up it seems harder.
My hardest race was my first half marathon. I didn’t train properly and I was struggling a lot. It didn’t help that I had overestimated my pace from a horrible running app and thought I was running slow, which just kept me down confidence-wise. Best of luck in tennessee!!
I hate it when my confidence (or lack thereof) is part of the problem.
My hardest half was in September. It started pouring right before mile 6 , and then the thunder and lightning started and continued ’til the end of the race. When it was over, I felt proud that I was able to tough it out.
Great job! Thunder and lightning during a race freaks me out.
Good luck in the rest if your races!!
My 2 hardest races were both marathons – NYC was my first and I totally forgot my walk/run plan until an hour and a half in. My planned 5-5 1/2 hours turned into a very long 6 1/2 hours. And the other one was the Bataan Memorial Death March – tough terrain, but I finished in just under 8 hours!
Way to go on finishing the Bataan March! I’ve heard that one’s brutal!
1/2 marathon in thunder lightning WIND and rain!!!
I got to experience that today. Lucky me. ;o)
Nike Women’s Half last year was soooo hard for me!
Are running it again this year? I’m looking forward to it.
I suffered from anemia during my first half marathon and it was brutal.
Ugh. I was anemic when I was pregnant. I can only imagine how hard it would be to run a half marathon feeling like that.
It made my second half feel great in comparison.
Wow, 5 halfs in 5 days – that is amazing! You are inspirational!
I have only run 1 half marathon so far – and at mile 8 my hip flexors seized up. By the end of the race I didn’t think I would be able to walk to the car.
Good job finishing! I hate it when my legs give up before a race is over.
I did a special 5K in honor of a fallen soldier shortly after my first son was born. I was just out of shape and didn’t prepare for it. The small hills killed me.
Ugh, being undertrained is rough!
Hooray for multiple giveaways and these are some nice products too!!
I thought Little Rock Arkansas was tough. Quite a few hills, plus knee started have a lot of pain at mile 13, so it was a walk/run finish.
I frequently have a walk/run finish!
You go, girl! Keep it up!
My worst race was the Real Girls Run half marathon in Crozet, VA. I was undertrained to be running any half, much less one as hilly as that one was, and recovery was horrible.
It was my last race – Rome Marathon – it rained and not light mist, heavy hard drops pretty much the whole way, there were 2,000+ year old cobblestones and I ended up landing right on my butt 200 meters from the finish – i was so exhausted before i even got 1/2 way thru but i made it and now, it doesn’t look quite as bad 🙂
Ouch! Today’s race was in pouring rain, so I can imagine how that sucked. I got drenched, but thankfully stayed on my feet.
My most challenging race was my first marathon. I was pregnant, injured and undertrained. And yet, it was still fantastic.
Funny how sometimes an awful race can still be fantastic. I kind of feel that way about Charlottesville.
I just finished an extremely difficult race this past Saturday. It was a very hilly 1/2 marathon course! Tough on the quads going both up and down the hills!
Hills kill my quads. I always walk funny for a day or two after a hilly race.
Two weeks ago I ran a half marathon in the pouring rain. It was a torrential downpour with high winds!
You won’t need luck!
My hardest race was my second marathon last October. I was slightly undertrained (I knew better) and was hit with unending nausea at mile 19. I walked pretty much the last 10K. However, it was also one of my favorites because my three running friends did the marathon as a relay and ran each of their legs with me. They helped me to the finish line and didn’t let me give up. And it was a gorgeous fall day in Maine. So I guess if that’s my worst/hardest, I’ve had it pretty good!
That’s awesome that you had friends to help you get to the finish line! That definitely makes a bad race better.
My most challenging race was the marathon I did just because it was my longest run ever, but my husband and inlaws were there for me and cheering on the course, that really helped a lot. Still, i will stick with half or shorter now!
I keep saying I’ll never do a 3rd marathon, but then I start considering it… Never say never LOL.
Iron Horse in CT. It was 90’s plus 90% humidity and you could see all the popplers in the air that triggered my allergies and my throat started to close.
I don’t do hot weather and high humidity. Races like that just suck for me.
Way to go! At least it wasn’t a blizzard! That was the most challenging marathon for me and it was the last weekend in April that year – brrr!
Despite all the crazy weather this past winter, I never had to run in a blizzard. I did work a race where the water froze at the water stop and one where the pouring rain was barely above freezing. Not sure if it was worse to work them or to have been one of the runners.
I suspect my most challenging will be next week’s 10k, for which I am not yet prepared…
Just got caught up on the first four races. Most challenging race would have to be Blue Ridge Marathon. I loved the challenge, though, and am going back to run the half this year.
I did the Blue Ridge Half a couple of years ago and it kicked my butt. I still consider it the hardest half I’ve ever run!
My most challenging was my first 15K – pouring down rain, the course was slightly mismarked and no consistent mile markers. I hadn’t worn my Garmin b/c of the rain and the whole experience was pretty miserable!
Marine Corps Historic Half in 2011. My own fault, I hadn’t trained well, and I also didn’t fuel properly. At mile 11, my leg was cramping so badly that I really thought it would be more comfortable if I crawled. I ended up in tears the last .5 mile b/c I was in such pain AND I was so mad at myself.
My most challenging race was my first one – a 5k a few years ago. I had just taken up running and it was a hot day and my right calf kept tightening up.
The spartan race! 😀
The La Jolla Half on the 27th. Hasn’t happened yet but it has two big hills!
