I love compression socks and calf sleeves. When my calf started having issues last winter, the only way I could run was to wear compression. I’m no longer having those kind of issues, but my calf is still a cranky guy. (Seriously, if I stretch out after sitting or sleeping with my legs bent, instant calf cramp. Not the pleasantest of ways to wake up.)
Anyways, when I got offered the chance to try out the ProCompression socks, I was all over it.
Short story: I love them. They make my tired calves happy.
I started out wearing them just post run. After my long run, I’m happiest in compression socks and velour sweats. (Don’t judge. When I’m feeling really classy, I put on Jones’ crocs and go to the store. I said, don’t judge.)
Today I actually ran 6 miles in them. My calves felt great and I had no issues with the foot part of the sock (my initial worry about running in them.)
The ProCompression socks are a lighter weight than some of the others I’ve tried. I like that as I tend to overheat when I wear knee socks. They stretch nicely and are easy to put on, but feel comfortably tight while I’m wearing them. My only issue at all is that they are a bit long on me, so there is a bit of tight bunching right below my knee. So far, that hasn’t caused a problem, but I’m not sure I could run in them for a half marathon. Time will tell, I guess.
