I’ve lived in the DC area for more than 20 years. While sometimes I still wonder how that happened (I grew up as a military brat and moved all the time), this area has become my hometown. And with 16 years of running under my belt, I’ve run most races and run all over the DMV. So, when Lisa from District Line Co told me about her new design, I was all over it. (Yes, I’m getting a free t-shirt, but I also have bought several shirts she’s designed for MRTT.)
When Lisa McLaughlin founded District Line Co in 2014, she had a mission: to promote the love of local with shirts that feel like home. Her designs have captured iconic skylines and the hearts of the people who live beneath them. She’s based in Arlington, Virginia and she sources her designs, marketing, and production efforts as close to home as possible. While the DC area is huge, each individual section has a small town connection and it’s great to have shirts that support that.
And now she’s taking the local movement and running with it. That’s right – a shirt with local races and run spots.
Do you run in Virginia? If so, you are going to want this shirt and here’s why…
-
It’s Virginia!
Designed by locals for locals, this shirt shares all the local hot spots (and hot races). Wear it to run in to show your Virginia pride at a race or just wear it to run your errands around town. -
It’s layered in local!
As a small, local company, Lisa makes supporting small business look good–and she helps support the local economy by sourcing local freelance designers, building relationships with neighborhood boutiques, and donating to community non-profits. -
Options! It’s a Limited Edition, but if you pre-order, you get to make choices!
Order now and you can pick which fabric, color and size. If you miss the presale window, (ends 3/20/18), there will be fewer options and reduced inventory later. As a bonus, if you order during the presale, you can use my code FreeShipMCMMama to get free shipping. -
They. Are. So. Soft.
Between the tech tee and the tri-blend, my favorite is…both. Seriously, get both. Tech for workouts, tri-blend for everything else. It will ruin you for other t-shirts, that’s a promise. -
It’s all about running–and it’s just in time for spring races!
You all know I’ve become a matchy, matchy girl. (True story: I’ve bought multiple colors of some of Lisa’s other designs so that I can wear them with any skirt.) I’m looking forward to rocking this shirt all over the country (and Australia/New Zealand) this year. Better hurry so you can get yours before they “run” out!
Do you “run local”? If you aren’t in Virginia, do you have similar products in your area? And if you are in Virginia, you should definitely jump on this opportunity to support a local company AND share your local pride. (And she makes shirts for guys too!)
I’m joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup.
Disclaimer: I’m getting a free t-shirt, but all opinions are my own. I love supporting a small, local, women owned business. It’s just a bonus that the shirts are awesome
I wasn’t crazy about the idea of a “regular shirt”, I just love the racer back tanks so much, but seeing it on the model it looks good! Might have to order one of those too!
Such a fun idea! Not sure I want to wear anything Illinois-related, tho…
Love the idea of the local shirts. They look great. Expect to see them throughout VA.
It might be fun to have one of these for Colorado. Since I run mostly in my neighborhood, and am getting bored with it, I need to branch out and find more trails. I’m checking out a new to me running location tomorrow.
I love this and would love to give this as a gift to friends who don’t live in VA. Too bad she only designs VA and DC apparel. Any plans to design neighboring states?
Hi Meranda- we don’t have plans to expand right now but possibly in the future. What state are you in? All updates go out to our newsletter subscribers if you’d like to join us there. Thanks for checking out this new shirt! ~Lisa McLaughlin, District Line Co. Founder & Creative Director
Those look so cute! I’d be all over that Virginia shirt if (when!) I do a run there 😉
