My kids had the day off yesterday. It was called a teacher workday (and it is the end of the first quarter), but it intentionally coincided with election day since many of the schools are polling places. Luckily, both kids got invited to do activities with friends, so it was a win/win day – we all slept in AND my kids were busy.
In addition to voting, I had a bunch of errands to run. I admit, I generally drive when I need to run errands. But yesterday, I needed some exercise since I hadn’t walked the kids to and from school, I knew I had some time before the kids came home, and I was able to map my errands in a relatively efficient manner.
So, I voted, went to the grocery store, went to the library, went to Starbucks (my treat for walking LOL), went to CVS, and then found something really cool.
As I was walking home, I noticed a delivery truck for an online grocery company parked in a parking lot with the back door open and a sign to check it out. So I did.
And in the process, I found a really cool new service to try – Relay Foods. They work directly with local farmers and bring organic, near organic, and sustainable foods right to a drop off location near you if you are in the DC metro area, Charlottesville, or Richmond (or your house/business if you want to pay more.) You order online and they deliver. I love that they have a location near my house that offers pickup on a day and time that works for me. In fact, I made the immediate decision to try them out and bought a gift card on the spot. I’ll be ordering tonight for delivery next week, so I’ll definitely update on how the process goes. (No disclaimer here – I got nothing that you can’t get by going to their site. I just thought it seems like a cool business.)
And now for some WIAW:

Breakfast: my usual banana and hard boiled egg
Snack: Smari yogurt
Lunch: Chili, salad and bread at Mad Fox
Snack: coffee and apple with almonds
Dinner: Split pea soup (I forgot to take a picture, so I heated some up to take a picture. And ate it for breakfast. It’s just THAT good.)
Dessert: Way too many trips to the candy bowl
Thanks, Jenn! Hope the baby starts sleeping soon!
I’m going to join a farm co op thing next spring, and go pick up the local veggies at a location near our house. I love that idea! Good for you!
I’m guessing the candy bowl is holding the remnants of Halloween. You need to eat that up quicksmart – Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and you’ll need a clean bowl to store all the candy from these.
