Ok, maybe running doesn’t suck. Running in Virginia in the summer sucks. Yeah, that’s more accurate. After a June of lots of rain and lower than average temps, suddenly summer has arrived in Virginia. Highs in the high 80s, low 90s. Humidity at 80-90%. Dew Points higher than 70*. It’s like running in soup. I…

Running Errands
I needed to head into Georgetown today to pick something up. I don’t drive in DC, parking sucks in Georgetown, and the metro doesn’t actually go there. Also, we are currently having parking issues (gotta love urban living) and all the cars have good spots, so I didn’t want to move them LOL. So,…
Happy National Running Day!
The weather here is gorgeous! Cool, low humidity, a slight breeze… Basically nothing like Virginia normally is in June. My toes are recovered enough to wear running shoes and my quads, while still sore, are definitely up for an easy run. I’ll be heading out the door shortly for a 3-5 mile run… Oh, wait,…
#WhatsBeautiful : DNS, DNF, or DFL
Disclaimer: I’m part of the Under Armour campaign through Fitfluential and I got half off on my race entry from North Face. The North Face Half Marathon is coming up on Sunday. To say that I’m nervous about it is an understatement. I haven’t run long since the Frederick Half. But, it’s ok, there’s a…
5 years? Really?
Apparently I started this blog about 5 years ago! The exact date is lost as a few of my early posts did not transfer when I moved from blogger to self-hosted. Things have changed a lot in my life since then. When I started, I’d never run more than 10 miles and I was training…
Prepping for the North Face Challenge + a deal for a reader
The North Face Endurance Challenge Half Marathon starts at Great Falls. I’ve been there a lot of times over the years. I’ve walked around what I believe will be a part of the course. I’ve hiked it with a child on my back. I’ve even seen a copperhead there. (gah, why am I running this…
From Washington to Washington
After 11 hours on my feet yesterday, I’ll shortly be heading back into that fray. I have moved boxes, directed people, and talked until I’m nearly hoarse. I am having so.much.fun! While I’m out having a blast and working my butt off (seriously, I got both a weight workout and cardio yesterday), I’m handing over…
Running does that for me
I had an interesting conversation this weekend. I was dressed up and wearing make-up at a social event. Another mom commented on that fact, since she’s never seen me in make-up before. My response was that she only sees me at school drop-off and pick-up and why would I be wearing make-up then? Her response?…
It’s the people…
I run for myself. I race because the running community is amazing. The examples of goodness from runners, volunteers, first responders, residents of Boston, etc. that have come out of the Boston tragedy are amazing. I am thankful to count many of of these people as friends.
Skirt Sports Kelly Bra Review
I really wanted to call this post “locked and loaded”. LOL I’ve waxed poetic a number of times about the Skirt Sports Happy Girl Skirt. I LOVE those skirts! So, when Skirt Sports reached out to me to try out one of their new running bras, I jumped on the chance. I love what they…
What’s your #bestrun lately?
Miss Zippy asked recently about everyone’s best run. Frankly, after my five half marathons adventure, I wasn’t sure when I was going to have a mediocre run again, much less a best run. Thankfully, it seems my body has recovered (just in time to run another half marathon this coming Sunday.) I’ll admit, my last…
Bad Blogger
We had a really great evening on Saturday night with a small group of friends. It was our annual holiday beer tasting, which we have to keep small because our living room is just so small LOL. We tasted 21 different beers, ate some good chili and cornbread, and finished up with pecan bars and…
